West Yorkshire`s most popular and well-loved town, Holmfirth is situated in the picturesque Holme Valley and just 4 miles away from the Peak district. Known locally as Little Hollywood and perhaps for good reasons. Renowned TV classic Last of the Summer Wine was filmed here, The Bamforth family (of cheeky postcard fame) were pioneers of British films, producing an historically significant collection or perhaps Little Hollywood is purely that Holmfirth, originally spelt Holm Frith can be translated as Holly Wood. Why not choose to visit when the town hosts one of its many vibrant festivals such as Food, Art, Film or Folk music or perhaps take in some live music at the Picturedrome –“The North of Englands finest intimate music venue”? Either way, whether you want to relax and enjoy access to walks and wildlife which the area has to offer, sit on Nora Batty`s steps or gaze at the stone built cottages nestled in the Pennine hills, you will certainly not be disappointed.
The historic Old Bridge Inn and Coffee House sits imposingly alongside the river Holme and at the Heart of this small market town. Famed for its traditional Yorkshire fayre, well-kept cellar including a good range of local ales and above all, the warmth and hospitality of the Team. The Inn provides the perfect spot for enjoying a wholesome breakfast, or perhaps be tempted into a naughty treat of cake with your favourite hot drink, or a delicious lunch or dinner – and all of these can be enjoyed in the sympathetically designed contemporary bar and Eatery or al fresco on the expansive patio area to the front of the building. Recently the 21 bedrooms have all been refurbished to a high standard throughout and provide the perfect escape after a long day spent exploring the surrounding area.

Holmfirth is a Pennine town not far from Huddersfield. Although it is now renowned worldwide as the home of the BBC's long-running TV series The Last of the Summer Wine, it also has a great deal history and heritage.
The area boasts picturesque and often dramatic hillside and moor views. For walkers young and old, there is the Pennine Way which passes right through Holmfirth and to the West.
Restored to its 1913 former glory, the Picturedrome sits just next door to us and has hosted some of the biggest names in music and live entertainment, including Sophie Ellis-Bexter, The South & Rival Sons. Find about about their latest events by clicking here.
An unmissable date in the Holmfirth calendar is the Holmfirth Festival of Folk which has been an annual event in May since 1978 and continues to grow and strengthen every year.
